People are not aware of what’s holding them back most of the time. Even if they do know, they are not sure how to fix things and become happy once again. This can be a long process, so I try to explain that change is not immediate, but it is also achievable if they follow through.
2. How do you want to be remembered?
This question helps me understand what the client’s sense of legacy is and what he or she wants to pass on before leaving this world for good. It can also be helpful in some cases in terms of understanding the client’s behavior.
The answers a person gives to this question are often really insightful and help me understand what kind of life he or she wants to live.
3. What new skills do you need in order to make those dreams happen?
This question helps the client pinpoint his or her specific problem and discover the thing that stops him or her from finishing it. It also helps me identify my role as a coach – helping him or her achieve the goal that he or she has in mind.
4. Which people are in your life would love to hear about you and your progress?
This is a great question for clients who are single or not very popular in their groups of friends or colleagues. By sending them an email with all the details of how their life has changed, they will be able to share the news with the people they want to show off to. This can also serve as motivation for them if they get some positive feedback on what they have been doing to improve their lives.
5. What kind of things keep you up at night?
This is a question that helps me understand what the client’s fears and obstacles are, so I can help him or her erase them. This question could also lead me to other related questions such as “What would happen if you let go of it?” and “Why do you think this would be a problem to begin with?” The answers to those questions will help me better understand my client’s perspective on the situation.
6. Why are we here?
This is a deep and powerful question that reveals the main purpose in the life of my clients. It helps me understand what is most important to them, and why they want to live the way they do. The answers can also help me as a coach in terms of explaining what it means to live your own authentic life and why it may be so important for people nowadays.
7. What would your ideal day look like?
Answering this question is a fun thing to do with clients, and it helps us to understand better what their goals are and why they want to achieve them. It also helps them visualize the future.
8. If you were the CEO of your life how would you run it?
This is a powerful question that helps me have a better understanding of my client’s life management skills, how he or she thinks things can be done in the best possible way. It also helps me identify their specific skills and talents in terms of how to best utilize them.
9. What are you afraid of?
This is a question that helps me find out what is holding the client back from living the life he or she actually wants to live. I also learn about my client’s fears, and what he or she may be feeling ashamed of in terms of his or her values, beliefs and behavior.
10. What do you do when you have time to yourself?
This question helps me understand the best moments in a person’s life and how he or she spends his or her free time. It also helps me understand the importance of relaxation and recreation for a person and what brings him or her joy.
11. What are you grateful for?
This question can help my clients open up completely, so I can get to know them on a more personal level. It is a powerful question that helps them to feel grateful and to understand what they are thankful for.
12. What could you be doing instead of solving this problem right now?
This question helps me understand the client’s value system and what his or her priorities are in life. By answering it he or she identifies what is really important, what he or she is afraid of losing and why he or she needs the problem to become a priority in order to be happy again.
13. What is the easiest way you could complete this task?
This question helps my clients develop their skills, making them more efficient and effective in what they do. It helps me understand the best ways to use a person’s skills and talents in order to help him or her achieve success and happiness.
14. How do you react to your problems?
This question helps me understand my client’s thinking style, and learn more about his or her learning style. It also helps me identify how to best use my client’s strengths.

This is an incredibly beneficial question that helps my clients identify the skills they need on a daily basis in order to be able to pursue their goals. It is an empowering question that helps them build the foundation for a successful life.

This question helps me understand my client’s values and goals, and how he or she envisions his or her life. It also helps me learn more about my client’s ideal life.
17. What is your definition of success?
This question helps me understand what my client wants to achieve and how he or she wants to do it. I can combine the answers with other questions that are in line with this one, such as “How would you like to achieve that?” or “What are the necessary resources?” This way I can help my client come up with a plan of action.

This is a great question that helps us to find out what makes a person tick. It also helps me understand my client’s passions and skills.
19. What is the biggest problem you have?
This is an empowering question to ask because it gives the client power over his or her own life. It helps him or she find the root of his or her biggest problems and then solve them. This in turn leads us to the next question…

This question helps me understand what the client’s answers to my previous question are leading him or her towards. It helps me identify the goal of my client’s actions in a specific situation.

This is a powerful question that helps me understand what happens in my client’s mind when he or she feels confused. It also helps me learn his or her values, beliefs and behaviors in such situations.

This question helps me understand what my client longs for in life, and what he or she is longing for a little more. It also helps me identify the person’s values and beliefs.

This is a powerful question that leads me to understand what my client’s main values are and what he or she is afraid of losing when he or she doesn’t live according to them.
Questions are a powerful way of communication between people. They can be powerful tools for coaches and therapists as well, and they can help us to achieve greater success in our sessions.
